Continuity Error on X-Men Origins: Wolverine

For those of you who are eager to see the new Wolverine trailer, the wait is over. This prequel to the X-men saga stars Hugh Jackman as the lead and Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth. My all time favorite X-men character, Gambit played by Taylor Kitch, will be making an appearance.

Although after viewing the trailer, I could see one major continuity error. In the first movie installation of X-men, Sabertooth played by Taylor Mane, was an unknown mutant to Wolverine. This is apparent back at the school when Professor Xavier fills in Wolverine about the people who attacked him and Rogue in the snow. He introducing Magneto, Toad and Sabretooth. Throughout the movie, Wolverine and Sabretooth act like they never met before. Even if there was a chance that they would have known each other, there was no indication that of Wolverine remembering his old enemy in X2 and The Last Stand. Then Sabretooth gets killed off in the first movie making it impossible to explore his character for X2 when we first see Stryker and start to get to some juicy info on Logan. I know Logan forgot most of his past. However, unless Sabretooth suffers from amnesia as well, I really don’t see how this would link seamlessly to the X-men series. Thoughts? Comments?

As I ALREADY pointed out on the blog, Wolverine does lose his memory. But then why doesn’t Sabertooth recognizes him? After all, HE didn’t lose his memory. Please read more carefully.

Hmmm. I haven’t read a lot of X-men or Wolverine for a long time. But I think both of them had their memories erased for some canadian military reason of secrecy.

I don’t know but maybe the Wikipedia explanation might help fill things out.

(Although, usually the movie versions of comic book characters and their stories are altered because the goofy screen writers don’t think they translate well enough for the “big screen”.)
