December Artist of the Month – Chris Torres
Last but certainly not least is the artwork of Chris Torres. I have been told plenty of times that this is by far the most realistic image in the 2009 NovaStar Studios Fantasy Illustration Calendar. This is because Mr. Torres’ work comes with great attention to detail and an eye for true representation. As you can see, this is not work from an amateur.
Christ attend The School of Visual Arts and graduated with a Fine Arts Degree specializing in illustration. Since then, he has worked on several different projects including comic book covers, murals, CD design packaging and promotions, etc.
Recently, Chris’ work was displayed along with other artists at The Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos University located in the Bronx, NY under the title “Dream Sequence” (2009). Currently he is working on a number of projects for Atlas Unleashed.

November Artist of the Month – David Quiles

David Quiles is by far one of the most talented independent artist I have ever met and that is why he is the November Artist of the Month. He is a famed inker who has done some great work – most notably his Batman and GhostRider collections. His other works include projects such as Arcane, Gothicsoul, Bare Knuckled Fighter, 10,000 Miles Through Exile and Caesar of Brooklyn for Infinite Line Comics. He has also illustrated for companies like Now Comics, Harris Publications, NovaStar Studios, Argo Comics, Jam Packed Productions, G B Studios, Crazee Comics, Blazer Studios, FBMFM Books and many others. David travels the convention circuit through out the United States, he can be seen at New York Comic Con, San Diego Comic Con, Pittsburgh Comic Con and many local engagements on the east coast. He is always available for freelance and private commission work. Check out his site at www.dquiles.com.

October Artist of the Month – Ray Felix
This is bad. Really bad. I completely missed my October Artist of the Month because I got way too busy. However, that is no excuse. I told my readers never to abandon your blog and in turn I broke my own rules! That’s completely unacceptable. So as I am done yelling at myself and coming back from a two month hiatus, I present to you the October Artist of the Month – Ray Felix. He made an appearance back in May and his work is, as always, beautiful.

September Artist of the Month – Ed Tranquino

New York City artist, Ed Tranquino, is this month’s Artist of the Month. He is a British graphic artist based in the Bronx. With 10 years of working in the graphic field, he is a pretty well-rounded guy. He has done work for MTV, Xbox, Michelin, Stella Artois, Hershey’s, Nike, ESPN, ABC television, Kraft, PGA Golf Tour, Met Life, Ford, Jack Daniels and Sands Casino-Macau. Ed doesn’t stop there. His sense of humor mixed with grotesque visuals makes this artist stand out. He has done an array of work from film & tv to illustration to comic books to animatics. August Artist of the Month – Michele St. Martin

Once again the lovely and talented Michele St. Martin makes an appearance in the 2009 NovaStar Studios Fantasy Illustration Calendar by giving us a second illustration for the month of August. Another one of my favorites, this onecaptures humor and sexiness at the same time. Her first one was for the month of March. Recently, Miss St. Martin officially joined the Novastar Studio team. Congrats, girl! You will definitely bring a new style and more creativeness to the already gifted studio. Check out what this woman of hot skills has been up by following her on twitter here.
July Artist of the Month – James Rodriguez

This is without a doubt one of my favorite images in the 2009 Novastar Studio Fantasy Illustration Calendar. James’ image was also featured in the February month. Recently, James has been really busy. He’s working on the Sky Pirates Cover for Trade, a story for the Psychosis series and the first issue of the Chronicles of Sara. Talk about a workaholic.
Also, congratulations goes out to James’ company, Novastar Studios, who expanded their team by adding Michele St. Martin and Jorge Medina. Can’t wait what you guys have up your sleeve!

June Artist of the Month – Ravi Wilkie
Ok, so Ravi is no stranger to Belkis NYC. Not only did he do the April cover, he also did the June one as well. As you can see this guy can go from beautiful to HORRORibly beautiful. Ravi will be appearing at the MOCCA Art Festival this weekend located at the Lexington Avenue Armory located on 68th Lexington Avenue between 25th and 26th Street. Admission is $10 a day. For more information, go here. Also appearing at this wonderful NYC event is Bob Sodaro, creative writer who was kind enough to write a piece about the 2009 Novastar Studios Fantasy Illustration June cover in his blog. Check it out!
